REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY

Can yoga reduce stress and anxiety?

Yoga is a wonderful tool to reduce stress and anxiety. When you’re feeling stressed, or you’re feeling anxious, something is not only going on in your brain and in your hormones but also throughout your body. One of the ways to work through anxiety is through the body. Through my trauma-informed yoga background, I give you resources like grounding, centering, orienting, and breathing to help regulate and soothe your nervous system. Along with that, yoga sequences are so wonderful for this because on a physical level, it can lower your heart rate, your blood pressure and reduce your cortisol levels, which are all factors in feeling overwhelmed and anxious.

When your body starts to calm, and your brain follows suit, you start to feel more of an inner peace. Also, anxiety is future related, and yoga is this meditative, mindful practice that is able to bring you back to the present moment. Which, again, will help you find a nice inner peace and regulate the nervous system.

All of my Yoga classes and Reiki Sessions help to reduce stress and anxiety, you can view all of my offerings here.

Tone Muscle

A question that I get a lot, is can I TONE my body with yoga?

Yoga for Injuries

It is something that you should check in with your physician about first.

Increase Flexibility

Flexibility and yoga go hand in hand. You don’t have to be flexible to get started!

TONE MUSCLE

How can I tone muscle with yoga?

A question that I get a lot about yoga, so I know that I can increase my flexibility but yoga, but can I TONE the body? And my answer to that is absolutely yes; you can tone the body using yoga.

So, when doing yoga, you are toning and strength training, just regularly. Almost every single pose that you do will activate your core. Also, we can get super specific, and when you tell me your goals, we can activate and engage those muscle groups through tons of different poses.

Along with that, a lot of these poses allow the yogi to support their own bodyweight too. That is another way to activate and engage certain and specific muscles. You can activate your core, your glutes, your legs, your arms, your back, whatever you’re looking to do.

A couple of my favorite movements for activating and toning the body is chair pose, Utkatasana, side plank, vashistasana, plank pose, and bridge pose. There are so many different ways to tone the body.

Along with that, there is vinyasa style yoga, which moves a little quicker, that breath to movement pace which allows you to get the blood circulating, burn fat and burn calories if that’s what you’re looking to do too. There are so many different options and styles of yoga.

If you really want to target toning muscle, you can book a Power Flow, Vinyasa Flow or a Private Yoga Session focused on building strength and getting toned.

INCREASE FLEXIBILITY

Do I have to be flexible to do yoga?

Flexibility and yoga go hand in hand. You don’t have to be flexible to get started! Basically, every single yoga posture that you do, takes your joints through a wide variety of motions, helping you to get more flexible.

We can always go over what type of flexibility or what part of the body you’re looking for flexibility in, and then we’ll create a special program for that.

Every yoga class that I offer helps to increase your flexibility! If you want to focus on something specific, you can book a Private Yoga Session and let me know your flexibility goals and I will create a plan that we can work through together.

If you have an injury or are interested in flexibility in an alternate way due to certain limitations, I do also offer Chair Yoga.

BOOST MOOD

How can yoga boost my mood?

Have you ever taken a yoga class, and then right after you walk outside and you really feel the fresh air, you're just noticing everything around you, you forget to check your phone, and you just take a steep sip of air?

That is because yoga can completely affect and boost your mood. Not only does it affect your endocrine system, your gut health, it increases your serotonin and oxytocin levels. This is a moment to moment practice that really helps you to come to the present moment.

I know that for me when I'm in the present moment, that's when I am my most joyful self. This is a practice where, over time, it can profoundly affect your mood. But even in one class, you can feel the benefits of enhancing your mood through yoga.

All of my Yoga classes and Reiki Sessions help to boost your mood, you can view all of my offerings here.

PRE AND POSTNATAL YOGA

What options do I have for pre and postnatal yoga?

I currently offer pre and postnatal yoga through private yoga sessions and my Playbook App. Right now I’m pregnant and I’m certified in both pre and postnatal yoga. I also have a program for this type of yoga specifically on my App on Playbook that you can find here.

I love teaching pre and postnatal yoga. There is something about the gentleness and finding what works for your body and what feels good. Because I’m pregnant right now too, I’m spending a lot of time learning about what works for me and I’m happy to share that with you all, as this is something that I’m really passionate about.

I am currently offering Pre and Postnatal Yoga in Private Yoga Sessions.

YOGA FOR INJURIES

Is yoga safe if I have an injury or if I’m recovering from an injury?

So always let me know if you have an injury. It always depends on the injury if yoga is safe or not for you. It is something that you should check in with your physician about.

But I have had plenty of clients that have had injuries in the past who have just gotten a knee replacement or a hip replacement or sprained their ankle, and that is something where chair yoga could come in handy.

We will pick a plan that really works for you as long as it is safe and you find that out through your doctor.

If you’d like to practice yoga with me to help recover from your injury, I’d recommend taking a Private Yoga Session or my 60+ Community Class that is at a beginner level that is more gentle.
